No-Cost Limited OB Ultrasounds
The next step following a positive pregnancy test result is to medically confirm your pregnancy with an ultrasound. Ultrasound procedures are available at both of our locations.
How do ultrasounds work?
Ultrasounds are a form of medical imaging. High-frequency, inaudible sound waves produced through a scanner allow us to see an image of what’s going on inside the body. Ultrasounds are completely safe for you and your baby.
Why do I need an ultrasound?
An ultrasound will be able to answer three vital questions regarding your body and your health:
Where is my pregnancy located?
Although rare, a fertilized egg can implant itself somewhere other than the uterus. This is called an ectopic pregnancy. If the egg has implanted in one of the fallopian tubes, this may also . be referred to as a tubal pregnancy. An ectopic pregnancy is a dangerous medical condition requiring immediate attention.
Is there a fetal heartbeat?
For any number of reasons, 1 in 4 pregnancies end naturally in miscarriage. An ultrasound will be able to determine whether or not there is a heartbeat. If there is no heartbeat and the pregnancy is at least 6 weeks along, miscarriage is likely to occur, and medical attention is recommended.
How many weeks pregnant am I?
An ultrasound is the most accurate option to determine the gestational age of your baby and estimated due date.
