“I was so nervous coming in but felt so welcome”

A pregnancy test can give you peace of mind

Am I Pregnant?

Pregnancy affects each woman differently, so there is no one symptom that indicates pregnancy. However, if you’ve been sexually active and are experiencing any of these symptoms, it might be time to schedule an appointment for pregnancy testing.

Common early pregnancy symptoms include:

  • Missed period
  • Frequent urination
  • Tender or swollen breasts
  • Fatigue
  • Food cravings or aversions
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Headaches
  • Backaches

When Is The Best Time To Take A Pregnancy Test?

We recommend taking a pregnancy test after missing the first day of your period. The pregnancy test will check for a hormone called hCG that is produced by the developing placenta during pregnancy. In a normal pregnancy, hCG can be detected in the urine as early as 7-10 days after conception. However, the amount of hCG each body produces varies greatly. Some pregnancies may not result in a positive pregnancy test until several weeks after a missed period.

I've Taken A Test At Home. What Should Happen Next?

While the technology of home pregnancy tests has advanced over the years, there is still the possibility of a false result. We recommend scheduling an appointment for our lab-quality pregnancy testing services to receive the quality care you deserve.

How Accurate Are Lifeclinic Tests?

LifeClinic pregnancy tests are one of the most sensitive urine-based tests available, detecting concentrations of hCG as low as 20mIU/ml.

If My Urine Test Is Negative, Should I Get A Blood Test?

Blood tests to determine pregnancy are only necessary under rare circumstances. If a pregnancy is still suspected after a negative test, another urine specimen should be collected 48 hours later and tested. If the result is still negative, LifeClinic recommends consulting with a physician.

Why Have An Ultrasound?

An ultrasound can give you peace of mind about your pregnancy and provide important information. LifeClinic’s Registered Nurses and Ultrasound Technicians perform Limited Obstetrical Ultrasounds which are used for the following 3 reasons:

  1. To find a pregnancy inside the uterus.

  2. To find a viable pregnancy (heartbeat).

  3. To find a gestational age by taking measurements.

LifeClinic ultrasounds DO NOT provide a diagnosis of gender or abnormalities.

What Can I Expect During My Appointment?

LifeClinic provides confidential services and medically-accurate information about your pregnancy or pregnancy symptoms. Your appointment will last approximately 1 hour. You will meet with a nurse to discuss your health history and any questions you might have. You will be provided with the pregnancy test results and given information on the medical and community resources that you need before the end of your appointment.
